An illegal alien from Africa was arrested for stabbing a random woman sitting with her family on a terrace in France this week, according to reports.
The horrifying incident unfolded on Monday morning in Montpellier, a city on the French Riviera.
A woman in her 40s was seated on the Charles-de-Gaulle esplanade near Place de la Comédie when she was approached by the male suspect.
Suddenly, he stabbed the woman in her side and then moved to attack her 38-year-old sister and two-year-old nephew.
Bystanders quickly intervened and saved the mother and son from imminent danger.
The victim was rushed to hospital in stable condition and is expected to recover.
The suspect was arrested and later identified as a man from Eritrea who was illegally present in the country.

"We will show no weakness towards offenders, especially when they are in an irregular situation and have no business being on the national territory," the Prefect of Hérault said in a statement. "In accordance with the instructions of the Minister of the Interior, everything will be done to ensure that the law is applied in all its rigor and that at the end of his sentence, this foreigner will be expelled."
"The Prefect of Herault asks for a zero tolerance for foreigners who constitute threats to public security and tranquility."
An investigation is ongoing.
The attack comes amid a heated debate over violent crime and lawlessness tied to mass migration in France.
Military leaders fired off multiple incendiary letters last year, warning the Macron government of looming "civil war" if strong measures are not taken to regain control of a society spiraling into chaos.
The revolution will not be televised.
