Bosnian Teens Arrested for Robbing Elderly Victims in France

A trio of teenage girls from Bosnia and Herzegovina was arrested under suspicion of robbing elderly victims in France this month, according to reports.

The slew of robberies unfolded over the course of approximately 10 days in Manosque, a commune in the department of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence.

An 83-year-old man says he was approached in a hypermarket parking lot by three girls asking him for directions to a local hospital on February 16.

Shortly after the interaction, the man realized his bank card was missing from his jacket.

A withdrawal from his account was executed at a cash machine nearby, so he reported the incident to police.

"Thanks to video protection, the investigators make the connection with two similar cases, which occurred between February 9 and 16, in the same place and with an identical operating mode," La Provence reports.

"Here again, the elderly were visibly targeted. On Thursday, police set up a surveillance device in the parking lot of the hypermarket."

Three female suspects were identified and arrested during the operation.

All three were found to be Bosnian nationals with no known addresses in France.

The suspects were brought before a magistrate and an investigation is ongoing.
