A teenage boy was seriously injured during a mass brawl between several dozen 'youths' armed with clubs and bladed weapons in France this week, according to reports.
The disturbing incident unfolded just after 6 p.m. on Monday evening in Toulon, a city on the French Riviera.
Police were notified about a major clash in the Saine-Musse district.
"Neighbors alerted the police around 6:30 p.m. They described a group of people armed with knives and baseball bats confronting each other at Avenue Joseph-Gasquet," Actu 17 reports.
Arriving officers found a lone 16-year-old boy with serious wounds at the scene. He was taken to hospital for treatment.
"He had injuries to the face, back and chest," a source told Actu 17.
During a subsequent search of the area, two suspects aged 14 and 15 were apprehended and taken in for questioning.
Both suspects were already known to authorities.
The victim's condition has reportedly improved and he is expected to survive.
An investigation into attempted homicide is ongoing.
