Police arrested a drunk Romanian migrant suspected of beating and raping a young woman in the middle of the street in France last month, according to reports.
The horrifying incident unfolded in the early hours of April 12 in Juan-les-Pins, a town in the department of Alpes-Maritimes.
A 24-year-old woman was walking near the train station when she was attacked by a male assailant.
A Good Samaritan rushed to her aid and the suspect fled.
"She was partially undressed and confirmed that she had been raped. Her attacker violently hit her in the head and in the stomach," a police source told Actu 17.
"Her clothes were found strewn on the sidewalk."
The bloodied victim received medical attention at the scene as officers scoured the area, arresting an intoxicated 46-year-old man within minutes.
"The victim immediately and formally recognized her attacker," the source explained.
The suspect was found to be a homeless migrant from Romania illegally staying in France.
