An illegal migrant from Africa was arrested for killing an elderly man at his home in France this week, according to reports.
The horrifying incident unfolded during the early hours of Tuesday morning in Vigneux-sur-Seine, a commune in the Paris suburbs.
Authorities received an emergency call at around 4 a.m. from a man saying his landlord had fallen to the ground during a dispute.
Responding officers found the body of a 65-year-old man who had been brutally beaten and a younger man soaked in bodily fluids at the residence.
"The suspect was covered in blood and seemed very intoxicated," a source told Actu 17.
Officials performed CPR on the victim in a futile attempt to resuscitate him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect was taken into custody under suspicion of "voluntary homicide" and placed in a drunk tank until he was fit for questioning.
He was identified as a 35-year-old citizen of Algeria who is illegally present in France.
Investigators are probing the relationship between the men and believe the victim may have been hosting the suspect at the time of the altercation.
