An illegal migrant previously known to authorities was arrested for stabbing his host to death during an argument over religion this week in France, according to reports.
The horrifying incident unfolded during the overnight hours between Tuesday and Wednesday in Poitiers, a city in the department of Vienne.
A man notified police that he received a disturbing Snapshot message with footage of dead body from another man who was residing with his neighbor, according to France Bleu.
Emergency responders found a naked 34-year-old man who had been stabbed to death in a bathtub at his home.
The victim had sustained many stab wounds and the walls were covered in blood but the floor had been cleaned, a source told Franceinfo.
Meanwhile, the neighbor remained in contact with the suspected killer, who was in the commune of Couhé, approximately 20 miles away.
He was arrested shortly after 2 a.m.
“The suspect, an Albanian residing in the same dwelling, was arrested immediately after the fact, the prosecutor told France Bleu,” Franceinfo reports.
“According to the initial findings of the investigation, the suspect explained having had an argument with the victim during the day of Tuesday on issues relating to religion.”
The 30-year-old Albanian was illegally present in France but already known to authorities for previous offenses.
