A police officer was brutally beaten by a mob of attackers during a botched arrest in France this weekend, according to reports.
The incident unfolded at around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday night in Saint-Herblain, a suburb of the city of Nantes.
Cops were in the process of busting a drug dealer moments after a transaction in the Bellevue district when things went sideways.
The suspect, described as "heavily built," burst free from a trio of officers and fled the scene.
One officer pursued the man on foot, but found himself surrounded by approximately a dozen assailants.
"The group violently kicked him, in particular in the head and leg," Actu 17 reports.
"The policeman gave an alert with his radio and the attackers chose to flee."

The officer was taken to hospital and treated for head trauma and severe bruising.
An investigation has been opened and authorities are attempting to identify suspects.
The attack comes amid a heated debate over violent crime and lawlessness tied to mass migration in France.
