An emergency medical team was attacked while preparing to transport an injured person to hospital in Amiens, France, according to reports.
A fire crew was responding to a call at around 7:15 p.m. on Monday when assailants began lobbing projectiles at their vehicle.
Police patrols who arrived on the scene were also targeted by the attackers, who threw paving stones at the squad cars.
“A wooden chair was thrown over their vehicle, smashing a side window. Fortunately, the shards of glass did not cause any injuries,” Actu17 reports.
“They received numerous projectiles, including cobblestones, which damaged their vehicle.”
Amiens police have opened an investigation into the incident and are attempting to locate suspects.
Police and emergency crews are frequently ambushed in Western European nations, particularly in migrant enclaves and 'no-go' zones where assailants draw little distinction between cops and first responders.
Assaults on fire personnel in France rose by 23 percent between 2017 and 2019, with French media calling it the "new normal."
