Laughing Migrants Throw Truck Driver Into Icy Waters at Swedish Port

A truck driver was nearly killed when a group of migrants threw him into the frigid sea in Sweden last week, according to reports.

The horrifying incident unfolded on the evening of November 22 in the culturally-enriched city of Malmö.

A 51-year-old man was fishing during a stop at the port of Malmö when he was approached by five foreign men.

The suspects shoved the man into the ocean and reportedly laughed and filmed as he fought for his life in the icy waters, Sam Nytt reports.

Fortunately, people nearby heard the victim's cries for help and were able to rescue him and alert emergency services while the suspects piled into a car and fled the scene.

Their vehicle was stopped a short time later and the suspects were apprehended.

"All five were detained on probable cause suspected of serious assault in accordance with what I requested," explained chamber prosecutor Sandra Helgadottir.

Four of the suspects are Iraqi nationals while the fifth came to the Scandinavian country from Syria.

Two of the men have previous criminals records in Sweden.

The suspects are all in their 20s and now hold Swedish citizenship.

An investigation and legal proceedings are ongoing.
