A man was left with 'half his head hanging off' after a suspect wielding a foot-long machete went on a rampage aboard an underground train in London, England, according to reports.
The attack unfolded at around 6:30 p.m. on Friday evening in central London.
British Transport Police were notified that a man had been slashed on a busy train on the Jubilee Line near Green Park underground station.
"A man stood in the middle of the carriage and brandished a foot-long black machete," a witness told local media.
"People started screaming. There was a stampede to the front carriage — people got trampled on and pushed into the plastic and stuff."
The witness says he saw a victim suffering from "a deep gash, meaning the side of his head was hanging off."
The suspect reportedly began prowling the train and menacing passengers.
"He then came back and stood at the opposite end of the carriage, taunting us and making out like he was going to break down the door of the carriage," the witness said.
"It was completely and utterly terrifying. For about 10 minutes I genuinely thought I would be hacked to death underground."
The train conductor was reportedly unaware of the chaos playing out as the intercom was not functioning properly.
Armed police boarded the train at Green Park and arrested the suspect.
