A shopkeeper was attacked by 'African-type' masked thieves as he opened his business in France this week, according to reports.
The disturbing incident unfolded at around 6:45 a.m. on Tuesday in Bonneuil-sur-Marne, a commune in the department of Val-de-Marne.
The manager of a tobacco shop on Place des Libertés had just arrived and was unlocking the front door when a trio of thugs ambushed him, Valeurs Actuelles reports.
Surveillance footage of the assault and robbery was published on social media.
The suspects can be seen running across the street towards the victim as he fiddles with keys.
The first suspect puts the shop worker in a stranglehold as another suspect punches him in the face.
The third suspect can be seen ripping a bracelet from the victim's wrist.
The victim manages to free himself and take a defensive posture, prompting the suspects to flee the scene.
"The manager of a bar-tabac was the strangled victim of a robbery in Bonneuil sur Marne in the Val de Marne on Tuesday, indicates a police source," French journalist Amaury Brelet reports.
"The 3 fugitive attackers, 2 of 'African' type and 1 of 'North African' type, stole a gold bracelet from him."
An investigation is ongoing.
