A 75-year-old woman was severely injured during a broad-daylight robbery in eastern Sweden this week, according to reports.
A gang of suspects set upon their elderly victim on a street in the city of Norrköping at around 7:40 p.m. on Monday.
"Police are looking for witnesses to a robbery that occurred on Bäckgatan," Swedish police explained in a report.
"The woman was reportedly injured during the robbery and an ambulance was called to the scene. The woman was taken by ambulance to hospital."
Authorities indicate "several perpetrators" were involved in the attack, citing witnesses.
An investigation into the robbery has been opened, but no suspects have been identified at the time of this writing.
Gang activity has been rising in Sweden, with police revealing there were 50 known criminal networks operating in Stockholm in 2019, up from 39 in 2015.
Additionally, youth gangs often attack vulnerable victims in culturally-enriched Swedish cities such as Stockholm, Gothenburg, and Malmö.
