Swiss police fatally shot a suspect who brandished a knife at them on a train platform in Morges on Monday, according to reports.
The incident unfolded at around 6 p.m. at a train station in the town, which sits on Lake Geneva near Lausanne.
Police were alerted to a man behaving strangely and allegedly seen 'praying' on a platform by multiple witnesses.
When officers approached the 37-year-old man, who was described as "disturbed" by 24 Heures, he pulled a blade and threatened them, authorities say.
Video shared on social media appears to show the suspect charging at officers as they back away with service weapons drawn.
A Morges Region police officer reportedly shot the suspect multiple times and he died at the scene, despite attempts to administer medical aid.
"Everything happened very quickly, but seeing the number of police cars, firefighters and sirens, I quickly understood that something serious was happening," a local cafe worker told 24 Heures.
Authorities have reportedly declined to comment on the circumstances leading up to the confrontation, including whether or not the man was observed 'praying' on the platform.
