Three police officers were attacked and injured by a 17-year-old suspect during a routine traffic stop this weekend in Colmar, France, according to reports.
The incident unfolded at around 3 p.m. on Saturday when cops pulled over a teen on a scooter on Avenue de la Liberté in the Alsatian commune.
Officers determined the rider was operating the two-wheeler without insurance and attempted to apprehend him.
"The individual is said to have suddenly fired a punch at the head of the patrol officer, before delivering more blows, at least one of them with his helmet, also striking the face of another officer. He strongly resisted his arrest by struggling while uttering outrage and threats," reports Les Latest Nouvelles d'Alsace.
"This unfolded in front of several teenage girls he knew, one of whom copiously insulted the police."
The suspect was eventually subdued and arrested, as was a 13-year-old girl, who may also face charges for 'acts of contempt.'
Two of the officers, aged 27 and 45, were hospitalized with severe facial injuries.
A third officer eventually sought medical care for a broken finger, as well.
