Three African migrants have been arrested in connection with the gang rape of a 20-year-old woman in Stockholm, local media reports.
Two Somalis and an Eritrean, all males aged between 18 and 29, have been apprehended amid an investigation into a rape and robbery at a children’s playground last weekend, where the alleged victim says she was lured.
“It was midnight on Saturday when a woman contacted police and told them that she had been raped in Björn's garden at Medborgarplatsen in Söder, Stockholm,” Fria Tider reports. “Two of the men are citizens of Somalia and the third from Eritrea. Newly arrived immigrants are therefore in question.”
“One of them needs interpreting in Arabic and another in Somali.”
After the alleged rape, the woman was also robbed of her belongings, according to police.
At least two of the suspects have prior convictions and brushes with the law for a range of offenses, including drug trafficking, theft and assaulting a transsexual prostitute, according to Expressen, but have still been allowed to roam free in Sweden.
Formerly virtually nonexistent in Sweden, gang rapes have risen steadily in recent decades, with the perpetrators often being men with migration backgrounds.
