Two police officers were seriously injured by a knife-wielding assailant who also attacked an emergency worker in central London on Friday, according to reports.
The incident unfolded at around 6:00 a.m. in the capital city just days ahead of the funeral for Queen Elizabeth, which is expected to attract one of the largest gatherings of world leaders and dignitaries in the history of England.
Officers on patrol near Leicester Square were alerted about a man carrying a knife.
When the suspect was confronted, he stabbed two cops - one male and one female.
"During the arrest, Taser was discharged and the man, believed aged in his 20s, was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and assaulting an emergency services worker – he was taken to hospital as a precaution and has since been discharged into police custody," Metropolitan Police explained in a statement.
Authorities immediately declared the attack is not likely "terror related."
