Watch: Police Attacked by Migrants in Paris

French police were attacked by illegal migrants while on patrol in Paris, according to reports.

The incident unfolded at around 4 p.m. on Tuesday in the 18th arrondissement of the capital city.

Officers observed fires had been lit at camp under a bridge occupied by migrants and approached to ask them to extinguish the blazes due to safety concerns, Le Figaro reports.

However, the migrants became hostile and began throwing projectiles at the officers.

Footage of an ensuing altercation was shared 0n social media.

A pair of cops can be seen attempting to apprehend a confrontational male when another man intervenes and punches a female officer in the face.

The female agent fights back and discharges a canister of defensive spray as chaos breaks out on the street.

The original suspect manages to break away and flees the scene on foot.

After reinforcements arrived, three suspects were arrested and taken to the police station.

They were all identified as foreigners present in France "without papers."

The female officer suffered injuries to her face and head.

“Wearing the uniform no longer inspires respect, it's even quite the opposite," Matthieu Valet, spokesman for the Independent Union of Commissioners, said in a statement.

"Today we face thugs who no longer have any limits. Most of the time they are individuals who we know very well for having arrested them countless times and who do not care about authority."

The attack comes amid a heated debate over violent crime and lawlessness tied to mass migration in France.

Military leaders fired off multiple incendiary letters last year, warning the Macron government of looming "civil war" if strong measures are not taken to regain control of a society spiraling into chaos.
